Stop Redlands Plane Campaign

Swindon

 WRITING TO THE PRESS

Have you seen something in a newspaper that's made your blood boil?  What about about airport expansion? Redlands is expanding its facilities every year...

Do you think that you could put pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard?

We would like to encourage you to write... the more that appears in the press, the better as far as getting the Stop the Redlands Plane Campaign! messages across.

The letters pages of almost every paper are as well read as the tv guide and often more frequently consulted than the front page!  It's an ideal place to be featured. Many people who have not read articles will still read the letters, so it's a wonderful pulpit!

We must get our views in print.  Dont let Redlands  present only their side of the story. We, the citizens of Swindon have a right to be heard. the plane that is operating from this airstrip is causing misery to hundreds if not thousands of people in the area!

How do you get into print quickly?

1). Respond quickly to any articles that appear - usually within a day or two

2). Make your letters short and to the point: in other words, they responded to the article or items that raised their blood pressure! (Remember short letters can always be fitted in more easily).

3). Dont try and cover too much ground. Making one or two good points gives an edge

4). Include  your  full name and address with a contact phone number (always useful if the letters editor needs to make contact, even though the phone number won't be printed) You can ask for your address to be withheld if you wish.

5). If e-mailed rather than posted, letters should be sent in plain text (not html or as attachments which are often rejected by national newspapers' servers)

6).Your  letters should not appear elsewhere: newspapers like original material

Why don't you try writing. Its easy.
